Learning Resources for Property Development

I am looking for some free resources to learn about property development as a project manager.

Hi, and Happy New Year for tomorrow

I would recommend you spend 50 to 100 hours selectively reading back catalog threads on this forum. That's likely to give you a no nonsense approach to management. I assume you are talking about refurbishing properties with a view to let or to sell on.

Why am I recommending a given number of hours? Well, on another topic, I've just spent 60 hours reading only ONE thread (which was 3,870 posts) and after doing so, will no longer have to spend £2,000 on a course specific to that topic. In fact, not only have I saved £2,000, I've also completed the business plan for that topic about six weeks ahead of when I had planned to do so.

Others may steer you in a pointed direction on this forum, or to other material, but if you play around with the "search" funtion in the toolbar at the top of each forum page in the same line as UserCP, FAQ, etc, and search on words like refurbishment, property project management, I am sure you will find more than is in ten books on the subject right here on the forum.

There were some really professional refurb guys on here last year - most have not posted for a while. Look for a forum name Charlie - he runs a £12M portfolio with his brothers, and they are professional RICS surveyors who do BTS with their own funds.

Gary - Sounds like a lot of work, but if it worked for you and I'm here to learn from the more experienced, I'll get right onto it. By development, I mean new build. Intending to work with some foreign investors on a small project to start with, total investment about £500k. Thanks for the referrals.

Ritun, Parmdeep - will action your suggestions too.

They're all on this page Links and Downloads Manager - Property Related Documents - The Property Tycoons Discussion Forum (one at the top two at the bottom). Free for members just click on the link they will open up.

The downloads section is difficult to navigate - we are in the process of revamping this entire website which will make all the member tools and resources much easier to find
