Default Saving Money On Boiler Repairs

It's probably our biggest expense.

I am currently looking into the standardising all of my boilers. One type of boiler, fault diagnostics easier, ultimately so would parts and labour....and obviously happier tenants.

I have access to good installer who can do installs at very good rates.

However, at this stage i want to contact suppliers of boilers to see what level of discount we could be offered if we (that's you and me!) but in bulk.

If this is of interest (and I can't see why it wouldn;t be!) can you send me a

pm or email at jonbieri@potential2property.com

At this stage just needs

Your name, area, number of properties (or units) and preference on boiler

Jon the idea in principal is good. I had been fitting cr#p headline boilers however we started fitting Ferroli 31c boilers. 5 year guarantee parts and labour around 18 months ago. We have fitted around 30 or so and now they are discontinuing them. I was getting them at £600 including flue and clock. The new ones are 5 year labour 2years parts. I tried buying 10 from my supplier but he said Ferroli only wanted to do the new boilers at a cost of £620 (initially I was told they would be £100 dearer) after insisting he said they would supply but at £650. The pointi am makingisthey change them so regular also you would need to try and get a budget boiler and maybe a top range boiler to pacify all landlords.

Hi Mike,

Yes I had at least one of those boilers fitted.

I think if you went with someone like Baxi however there would be less chance of that situation occuring in my opinion and there are some very reasonably priced ones.

I know co ordinating something like this wouldnt be easy. I will put you down as interested!

I've been fitting Magnacleans when I've had to do new istallations :

ADEY - MagnaClean Professional how it works

* They remove the black slude in heating systems, prolonging the life of the boiler - my gas man swears by them & there was 1 dodgy boiler I had which isn't dodgy anymore as a result of installing one

That's a cool device.

Had an engineer (one I have been using for a number of years) go out to a property, told me the heat exchanger had gone.

Called another engineer out, fixed the problem (loose pump!) in 15 seconds.

Moral of the story, even when you are using people 'tried and tested' seek second opinions on occasion.

I digress, but would also, implore you to keep a record of what parts have been replaced and when. It's too easy to be conned in this area and we are talking a lot of money for parts and labour....I can sense a blog post coming!!

Default Saving Money On Boiler Repairs

In the last few months we have been fitting Valliant.

As always we get at least three quotes to ensure we are getting a completive quote.

One engineer we use guarantees the full system will be power flushed. This includes taking each radiator off and flushing them out.

We had a new boiler engineer recommended to us and we ask him for a quote. His reply was I do not fit boilers I only repair them.
I asked him "which boilers do not give you any work", my thoughts are these are most probable to the most reliable.
His reply was "any boiler under 6 years old" in his opinion most modern boilers are reliable up to this point.

Hope this is useful
