| | Tamper proof thermostats for hmo's I have been looking at various tamper proof room thermostats for hmo's where bills are included. Can anyone recommend a particular make/brand? I need to set a max temperature so tenants can't constantly have heating at 40! | | Connect With Facebook to

| | Hi Shane,
I use a wireless thermostat in my shared houses and I usually leave them under a sofa in the lounge. I have the boiler in a locked cupboard and that way you can set the temp to what you like on the thermostat and the tenants cannot mess around with it. If you have a trusted tenant you can ask them to keep it in their room but I prefer to be able to acceess it myself. The wireless thermostats are about Ł60 if I remember right, I cant remember the model off hand but I can check, I think its money well spent.
Cheers,
Craig. | |

| | Hide it in a box full of TNT !
* On a serious note - you could create a mini cupboard with wood to house it & then put a padlock on it.
Then fit a key safe in the cellar near the fuseboard which contains the padlock key (so it's hidden on site for tradesmen) - http://www.screwfix.com/p/master-loc...FQ8gfAodVismwQ & don't tell the tenants about it
Reason I'd do it near the fuseboard (probably below) is it's a very easy to describe location & there's usually space under there in most cellars.

| | Is this wise? I have toyed with the idea but what if the tenants get cold, they could just put electric heaters in their rooms and bump up the electric bills! | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
