Just joined the forum, so thought I'd introduce myself.
I have lived in Benson, South Oxfordshire, for the past 5 years, having spent most of my life before that growing up in a pub in Slough.
My first taste of property came 12 years ago, at the age of 17, when I became a trainee negotiator for a local independent estate agent - the job title was slightly misleading, as I spent the best part of 18 months photocopying property details and making tea - it did allow me to get a great deal on my first flat, when I was 18 though, so I shouldn't complain.
Having become tired of the paper cuts and general boredom, I fell into a career in telecoms. Beginning as an engineer and eventually working for several blue chip companies as a project manager.
This was never what I really wanted to do though. I come from a family who are all self-employed and run their own businesses and that was always the path I wanted to take........I won't give the entire list of things I've worked on in the past but as a few examples, general trader, market trader at Camden market, online clothing trader.....the list goes on. None of these were a huge success but, you have to keep believing in yourself and eventually you'll get it right!!
In late 2004 I set up All 4 Property (
www.all4property.net) and 9 months later was lucky enough to be offered voluntary redundancy. This gave me the security to not worry about paying myself for a few months and I knew it was "now or never"!
My Dad, and business partner, now works with me full time and we have a network of around 15 investors throughout the UK who take our leads directly. We also have a much larger network of investors who take deals on an ad-hoc basis.
In this time we have built a modest
BTL portfolio, as well as buying & selling numerous properties........if the yields were better in the South East I would have kept them all!
My ambition for the next couple of years is to continue with my current business strategy as well as building my own block of flats within 50 miles of Oxford........although, if I can get a block at 25%
BMV, I may just let somebody else go through the pain of the building process!
