Hi

My background is IT project mangement.

Took a career break about 3 years ago and decided to follow my long held interest in property. After several failed attempts at buying at auction cheap enough to make money on a refurb, gave up the "Beaney" approach and bought a property with loads of garden. Got planning permission to build another property at the side and sold for good profit. (The reason I was able to buy this property so easily was because there had been a murder in the house 18 months earlier!)

Then spent a year trying to find another property like this, but eventually went against my better judgement and joined a well known property club. This was a big mistake! Spent loads on the joining fee, and deposits on 3 off-plan buy to-lets. Also bought an off-plan in Spain based on a friends judgement. This lot sucked up my available equity like a sponge and I'm also making a loss on the monthly rental!

Have now bought another property with land as a joint venture. Have just submitted plans and awaiting planning permission.

Now I'm looking to buy BTLs with no money down, and cashflow from the rent!

Looking forward to learning more.

Welcome on board Jacqui and thankyou for sharing your 'journey' to date. There is lots of help and advice on here to help you achieve your goals and avoid some of the pitfalls, and plenty of like minded people to discuss scenarios with. I am sure your own experiences will be equally as valuable in helping others too.

You're not too far away (whereabouts in herts?), so look forward to meeting you at an event in due course.

Kind regards

John
